This year’s UNESCO World Book and Copyright Day, celebrated on 23rd April, was themed ‘Reading it’s my right’ and commemorated the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. St Martin’s College Library lessons focused on the right to education and the importance of reading. Discussions were held, among other things, on the ‘Syria’s secret library’ and on Malala, the girl who stood up for education and was shot by the Taliban and went on the receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.
