Green Wall

Green Wall The ‘green wall’ in the SMC Sixth Form common room has been given some TLC. The last 2 rows of the wall will be entrusted to our Gardening Break Club. They will be experimenting with different plants to see which grow best there. We look forward to seeing their green fingers at work. The idea of a 'green wall' was originally proposed by our students themselves during the design phase of our Sixth Form area. An ongoing commitment to offer great learning spaces for our students.

#OutdoorClassroomDay Our Early Years, Junior Years and Middle School celebrated #OutdoorClassroomDay last week! They joined over one million children across the globe to celebrate this day by taking their learning sessions in various outdoor locations. These outdoor learning experiences give children the opportunity to think independently, enhance their social skills, cooperation, communication, and problem-solving in a natural environment.

Olive Picking

Olive Picking A successful olive picking event was organised by Mr Paul Galea - EkoSkola coordinator. Staff members and students were invited to help pick the olives on our St Martin’s College grounds. The olives have now been pressed and converted into 4 litres of delicious olive oil which will be used for various school activities throughout the year. Well done!

Scout Visit

Scout Visit Last week our pupils in Early Years 2 Purple enjoyed an exciting visit from a Scout. They learnt all about scouting activities, nature, badges, camping scavenger hunts and maps. The adventure continues as he will be joining them during their nature matters programme this week for a tent building activity and a scavenger hunt. Thank you Scout for your insightful information.

Reading Champions Awards

Reading Champions Awards Three Level 8 students, Sofia Vancell, Andrea Albig Garcia and Julia Marie Portelli, recently attended the Reading Champions Awards ceremony held at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali. These awards, organised annually by the Literacy and Information Support Unit within the National Literacy Agency and in collaboration with the Directorate for Learning and Assessment Programmes, aim to reward students who openly convey their love of reading, or who have made a marked improvement in their reading habits. Premises

Premises Our Premises team have been busy with extensive maintenance works being carried out at both schools in the recent months. The works include: St Martin’s College - New rubber flooring for the external amphitheatre, repairing and painting of tennis courts, upgrade of foyer and piazzetta, replacing of all roof skylights, upgrading CCTV system around the college, upgrading of external lighting system in common areas, refurbishment of gymnasium, games room and canteen as well as a new IT lab. Chiswick House School - Upgrading of CCTV security cameras, creation of an outdoor classroom, plastering and painting of external and internal walls and corridors, repairing of rainwater reservoirs to be used for watering of plants and toilet flushing and new turf laid to the area at the side of the theatre. Let’s Talk Farming

Let's Talk Farming To celebrate that Chiswick House School has achieved the Gold Award in recognition of the outstanding participation in the Let's Talk Farming (LTF) Programme for the 2022-2023 academic year we were invited to the Let’s Talk farming programme Awards Ceremony. Ms Audrey Fenech Adami and Ms Sarah Lanzon represented Chiswick House School. This achievement reflects our dedication to the values and principles of the LTF Programme and in transmitting these values to our pupils. We are so proud of this achievement.
