Careers Event St Martin’s College Careers Event was organised for students from Level 10 to Sixth Form as well as their parents. Over 30 participants attended our Careers Event which included various departments from the University of Malta and MCAST; a number of Financial Service Providers; as well as Business and IT related companies. It was an excellent opportunity for students and parents to explore the different career paths open to them and to discover new and exciting possibilities.

Music and Drama Ms Lisa Bonello (CHS music teacher), Mr James Utting (SMC music teacher) and Ms Jessica Lee Bristow (CHS drama teacher) attended Europe’s largest conference and exhibition for music and drama education in London. A great professional learning experience and opportunity to broaden horizontal connections. They are very excited to put the innovative strategies they have learnt through this professional learning into practice.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

News or Event Title Level 4 learners have been introduced to Roald Dahl. After reading his book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ pupils enjoyed being Willy Wonka for the day. As part of the day’s activities, pupils invented a new chocolate bar, designed a wrapper for it and came up with a slogan to promote it. They also analysed the characters of the book and made their own chocolate balls. They ended their fun day by watching the movie which they then compared to the book. Learners are now being encouraged to continue reading more books of Roald Dahl.

INTEREtching

INTEREtching Level 12 and Level 13 Art students had practical sessions with local artist-printmaker Jesmond Vassallo as part of the project INTEREtching. Under the guidance of Mr Vassallo and Art teachers, all students polished and prepared their copper plates in the initial stages of this etching technique. They then finalised the sketches previously done at MUZA to be used as an inspiration for their work. All their designs were meticulously drawn on the copper plates in preparation for the next part of this project which is supported by Arts Council Malta.
