European Parliament Ambassador School Programme (EPAS)

European Parliament Ambassador School Programme (EPAS) Our Level 8 students participated in a quiz organised by the European Parliament Ambassador School Programme (EPAS). Students were given the opportunity to understand their rights as EU citizens as well as learnt about the role of the European Parliament. The winning team will be representing St Martin’s College in an interschool competition which will be held in May.

Childcare and Education Expo London 2023

Childcare and Education Expo London 2023 Ms Lucia Balzan and Ms Liza Parlato Trigona, two of the Directors of First steps childcare centres together with Ms Roberta Zammit Briffa, Registrar and Senior Leader for Promotion Communication and the very Early Years at Chiswick House School and St Martin's College attended the Childcare and Education Expo London 2023. The Expo welcomed thousands of early years and primary education professionals from all over the world. The Childcare Expo offers seminars and interactive workshops as well as hosting over 90 suppliers and associations, showcasing the tools needed to improve childcare practices. During their visit they also visited two child care centres to share practices in childcare.

Healthy Eating Nutritionists from the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention visited Chiswick House School yesterday to promote Healthy Eating. This session relates to the Science topic of Digestion which Level 4s are currently learning about. This forms part of the Let’s Talk Farming Programme.

Walkathon

Walkathon Level 2 pupils participated in a walkathon yesterday, an initiative organised by the CHS student council aimed at sponsoring their sustainability drive. Funds were raised towards the Go Green Campaign. Level 5 members of the student council joined the Level 2s on this walk to explain the importance of looking after our public spaces and gardens. They also explained the importance of pollination and therefore why we should not be afraid of bees.

F Living Esmeralda Zerafa – Head designate CHSMC, Sarah Lanzon- Sustainability Lead at CHS and Sharon Scerri from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights (MAFA) were invited to the programme F living Show to explain the Let’s Talk Farming programme being held in schools. Let's Talk Farming is a programme organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights (MAFA) in collaboration with the Ministry for Education, Sports, Youths, Research and Innovation (MEYR) to promote farming and food production in primary schools. Chiswick House School is participating in this programme. The aim is to educate and increase awareness related to food systems. This programme will acknowledge and reward schools which endeavour to promote food production and the role of food producers within their school environment.

International Food Fair

International Food Fair Level 3 learners held an International Food Fair at Chiswick House School. All Level 4 and Level 5 pupils were invited to visit the fair and purchase their products. As part of the preparation for the International Food Fair, Level 3 learners visited a food store to purchase ingredients for the food that they prepared. Through this exciting initiative learners were given the opportunity to create a budget, use entrepreneurship skills to plan for the fair and calculate costs. This experience will undoubtedly provide learners with the financial literacy necessary for 21st century learning.

FIDEM Conference

FIDEM Conference On Wednesday 8th March, senior school Higher Achievers and student council representatives, Sophie Knobel, Zach Seguna, Luca Giglio and Sophie Villette attended the first women's day FIDEM conference where they were invited to ask questions to panels of experts on topics such as female empowerment in education, employment and domestic violence. It was an eye-opening experience which allowed students to engage in discussions at a high level.

Careers Event

Careers Event St Martin’s College Careers Event was organised for students from Level 10 to Sixth Form as well as their parents. Over 30 participants attended our Careers Event which included various departments from the University of Malta and MCAST; a number of Financial Service Providers; as well as Business and IT related companies. It was an excellent opportunity for students and parents to explore the different career paths open to them and to discover new and exciting possibilities.
