Professional Learning Day

Professional Learning Day Yesterday, our educators and staff at CHSMC attended Professional Learning Day. Various Sessions were held on mental health, wellbeing, project-based learning, school improvement processes, assessments, GDPR and more, followed by a light lunch and a team-building session. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, educators wore a touch of PINK and donations were collected in aid of Europa Donna Breast Cancer Support Malta.

Introductory session to a project supported by Arts Council Malta After training sessions with Chiswick House School and St Martin’s College staff, Level 12 and Level 13 Sixth Form students met Mr Jesmond Vassallo, one of the main local print makers and artists. Mr Vassallo held an introductory session to a project supported by Arts Council Malta, where our students will have the opportunity to learn and discover the challenges and beauty of the etching technique. During this workshop, Mr Vassallo discussed with students the main printing techniques focusing mainly on the dry point technique.

Live-ins

Live-ins We are so excited to re-introduce live-ins at St Martin’s College. These live-ins provide an opportunity for our students and teachers to come together in a more relaxed environment. The first Level 6 live-in took place last week. The group enjoyed a nature walk and games, sports sessions and a trip to the cinema amongst other activities which focused on learning about themselves and each other. Students bonded, built friendships and made memories that they will cherish forever.

Level 5 Cook-Out As part of our mission to connect different learning areas as well as to take learning to the great outdoors, our Level 5 pupils visited the Red Tower in Mellieħa on Friday. Ice-breaking Day

Ice-Breaking Day A group of over a hundred first-year students attending St Martin’s College Sixth Form participated in an ‘Ice Breaking Day’ which was organised to welcome the new students. The day consisted of team-building activities which were held at Mistra Bay during which students had the opportunity to get to know each other better before starting their formal lectures. After an eventful morning, students enjoyed a tasty BBQ to round off the day’s activities.

Dare to Lead

Dare to Lead Many of our Senior Leaders attended a 2-day workshop on leadership. The workshop was carried out by Ms Amy Andrews Mc Master from Denver Colorado. As a Dare to Lead Facilitator, Amy is certified to bring the leadership research of Dr. Brené Brown to organizations that are ready to apply the four teachable, measurable and observable skill sets of courage. National Readathon Awards

National Readathon Awards Chiswick house School is the Runner Up Champion School of the Fifth Edition of the National Readathon Awards. We are so incredibly proud of our pupils for their efforts with this great initiative and are thankful to their sponsors for their support. We congratulate Sofia Camilleri who received an award for collecting the most sponsors. Well done Sofia! The funds collected will be used to purchase educational resources for non-verbal children on the autism spectrum.

Escape Box

Escape Box Level 6,7 and 8 students who helped during the Maths Foyer exhibition were awarded a cool activity after school: An Escape Box. Students tested their communication skills, working together towards common objectives and solving different types of puzzles and tasks. What a great activity. They loved it !
