Professional Learning Day at CHS

Professional Learning Day at CHS Staff members at Chiswick House School had another great Professional Learning Day with many parallel sessions to suit their different requirements. All staff in Early Years had first aid training and a session about the National Literacy Policy. Teachers, Learning Support Educators and Teaching & Learning Assistants across all levels had the opportunity to learn more about the roll out plan of the Learning Outcomes Framework, the TIMSS study to be carried out in 2019, the Read Write Inc programme and different strategies that support individual learning trajectories for all learners.

Movement and Fitness Week at CHS

Movement and Fitness Week at CHS We have had a great Movement and Fitness Week at Chiswick House School. Besides Physical Education and DEC lessons, all pupils enjoyed participating in various activities including Yoga, Zumba, Taekwando and Futsal. This year, some levels also visited the Cottonera Sports Centre for sessions on fundamental movement skills. At Chiswick House School, we strive to provide our pupils with a healthy environment, promoting sports, physical fitness and healthy eating practices. Well done to all!

EY GENERATE 2018 Event

EY GENERATE 2018 Event Senior School and Sixth Form students, who have chosen Computer Studies as one of their options, took part in the EY GENERATE 2018 event. This year's main theme was Transform your future! Students were encouraged to nurture their innovation mindset by taking risks, embracing failure, being collaborative, imaginative and willing to always challenge themselves. During the first part of the day all participants took part in a Q&A about the effects of innovations such as Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence on future careers. This was followed by workshops covering diverse areas such as Audit in the 21st century, digital tax and sustainability.

Follow-up to the International Day of the Girl

Follow-up to the International Day of the Girl A group of five students attending St Martin’s College Sixth Form, participated in an event hosted by Her Excellency, Marie-Louise Coleiro-Preca, President of Malta. The event, held at Verdala Palace, was a follow-up to the activities which were held to commemorate the International Day of the Girl. Throughout the morning, Michaela Ellul, Annah Chapelle Paleologo, Shirin Enrica Giordano, Jay Park and Veronica Micallef joined students from other post-secondary schools to showcase the different activities that were held at every school and actively contributed to panel discussions about a number of issues related to female leadership. A presentation about the Speed Mentoring and Networking event which was held at our College was very well received.

Russian students visit SMC

Russian students visit SMC Between Monday, 22nd October and Tuesday, 30th October, St Martin’s College welcomed a group of nine students from School 191, St Petersburg, Russia. Throughout their stay, the Russian students attended a number of lessons in the Senior School as part of an intercultural exchange programme. The group was accompanied by Ms Gaia Volgina, teacher of English, who was instrumental in helping to coordinate our sixth formers trip to School 191 and St Petersburg last May.

Trip to Poland

Trip to Poland A group of Level 9 students will be visiting Poland as part of an Erasmus Sports Trip funded by the EU. During this trip, students will be observing classes and participating in Sports Activities organised by the Polish School in Białobrzegi. They will also be visiting a number of cultural sites. This is a great opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in a different cultural context while also appreciating the diverse activities being offered by the Physical Education Programme at the Polish school being visited.

Dream Green Team

Garden Green Team Over 40 Level 5 pupils have signed up to join our Dream Green Team at Chiswick House School. This initiative is open to Level 5 pupils who want to take part in outdoor activities that include beautifying the outdoor environment, growing vegetables and herbs, and learning about the land, food and healthy eating. So far, we have planted leeks and many scientific principles have already been understood. Tomorrow we will water our produce and on Monday we will plant herbs. Sustainability and the environment are hot topics and all our equipment is made out of recycled material. A generous donation from parents has allowed us to acquire new books on plants, gardening and sustainability. Thank you!
