Further and Higher Education in France

Further and Higher Education in France A group of students from St Martin’s College Sixth Form recently attended a conference at the University of Malta on the opportunities of further and higher education in France. The conference was organised by the French Embassy in Malta and the University of Malta. A representative of Campus France, the French agency responsible for the promotion of international mobility in France, presented several reasons why students should choose to study in France. Apart from offering a world class education, Universities in France are reasonably-priced and many courses are also state-funded. Students may read for their bachelor, master or doctorate degree in a wide variety of subjects ranging from art and architecture to medicine and law. Many of these courses are being offered in English, thus eliminating the language barrier for students who have a fair knowledge of French. The International Office at the UoM explained the ERAMUS project and the benefits for students taking on the opportunity to spend a whole semester studying in a foreign university. The conference ended with the testimonials of three Maltese students who have studied/worked in France. This gave our students a clear vision of what challenges youngsters may face but also all the opportunities that come with such an experience in France. After the conference, participants were invited to taste typical French “viennoiseries” which our students truly enjoyed. Students were accompanied by Ms Karen Camilleri, teacher of French at St Martin’s College Sixth Form.
