The Schools and Academics Show
A group of Chiswick House School leaders attended The Schools & Academies Show in Birmingham. This event served as a comprehensive platform for the education community, offering valuable insights, tools, and resources to strengthen strategic planning and enhance school improvement efforts.
The team also visited Percy Shurmer Academy, a school recognised for its deaf learning base and its Inclusion Quality Mark accreditation. During their visit, they observed lessons, engaged with staff, and exchanged ideas on best practices in teaching and school leadership.
An excellent opportunity for professional development, collaboration, and sharing innovative educational approaches.
Creativity in Education Summit 2024
Ms Audrey Fenech Adami, Ms Cynthia Rizzo, and Mr Francesco Nicodeme, attended the Creativity in Education Summit 2024 in Paris.
The event focused on empowering creativity in education, providing practical resources, and inspiring educators and policymakers to integrate creative tools into classrooms. It explored the intersection of innovation, technology, pedagogy, and assessment frameworks to foster student engagement, accessibility, and inclusivity.
The summit also encouraged collaboration among leaders to address challenges in integrating new tools into standardised curricula.
This initiative was organised by OECD-CERI, UNESCO IITE, and GloCT (Global Institute of Creative Thinking).
Sessions on Project-Based Learning and Assessments
A group of Chiswick House School and St Martin’s College staff travelled to Berlin to attend professional learning sessions aimed at enhancing teaching practices.
The sessions focused on key educational strategies, including project-based learning and formative assessments in preparation for the start of the new scholastic year.
This experience reflects our ongoing commitment to lifelong learning and continuous professional development, ensuring we provide our students with innovative and effective learning experiences.
Flipped Classroom Training in Florence
A group of teachers from St Martin’s College travelled to Florence to further their professional learning and prepare for the upcoming scholastic year.
The main focus centered around Flipped Classrooms, exploring pedagogies that help teachers make the best use of their classroom time, enhance learning, and, most importantly, foster independent learners.
We believe that everyone is a lifelong learner, and we actively support initiatives for teacher upskilling and digital transformation.
Chiswick House School Staff Explore Outdoor Learning in Bologna
Chiswick House School staff spent an enriching week in Bologna attending a training course on Outdoor Learning for Early Years education. They explored outdoor learning firsthand in a local park, visited a renowned outdoor school, and engaged with educators from various European schools to exchange best practices. They have already implemented new and creative ideas with their pupils and will continue to do so, collaborating with colleagues to enhance their teaching methods.
CHS and SMC at ICSEI 2024
Ms Bernie Mizzi, Dr Grace Grima, and Heads Dr Esmeralda Zerafa and Ms Audrey Fenech Adami attended the ICSEI 2024 Conference at Trinity College, Dublin.
The congress explored various perspectives on enhancing professional education and its impact on teaching and learning worldwide.
Ms Bernie and Dr Esmeralda presented the following papers during the Innovate Sessions:
- Towards Zero-Waste of Learning Time: A Creative and Innovative Alternative to Combat Learning Loss in Secondary Schools – A Case Study from Malta
- Professional Learning as an Agent for Change: Connecting and Deepening Learning through Project-Based Learning in an Independent School in Malta
