Paula Azzopardi attended St Martin’s College Sixth Form between 2017 and 2019, where she pursued A-levels in Biology and Chemistry with Systems of Knowledge, as well as Intermediate-level courses in English, Psychology and Physics.
After completing her studies at St Martin’s College Sixth Form, Paula initially enrolled in a degree in Applied Nutrition at the University of Malta. She later changed her academic path and in 2020 began her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest, Hungary. She has since completed her fifth year and is expected to graduate in 2026.
Paula attributes much of her academic and personal progress to the support she received at St Martin’s College Sixth Form. She found the one-on-one meetings with teachers especially helpful, as these allowed her to openly discuss any difficulties she was facing and led to strategies that improved her study approach.
Paula also highlights the dedication of the teaching staff. The small class sizes allowed for more personalised instruction, enabling teachers to adapt their methods to suit different learning styles. A quote from her Chemistry teacher that Paula recalls is “Nothing is black and white; there are always 50 shades of grey in between.” This has been relevant to her veterinary studies, where clinical cases often require critical thinking beyond textbook knowledge.
Paula also says that logical reasoning was an important skill nurtured at St Martin’s College Sixth Form. She understands that while memorisation has its place, the ability to think critically and reason through complex topics has proven invaluable, particularly in her field.
